From BBC Micros & ARMs to Brains - with professor Stephen Furber CBE

Saturday, 25th October 2025, All day session (11:00 AM to 5:00 PM)

Join us for a very special guest presentation from professor Stephen Furber CBE, where he will detail his fascinating history with Acorn Computers and journey through the development of the ARM1 processor and beyond.

Stephen is best known for his pioneering work in the development of the ARM microprocessor, and during the 1980s, while at Acorn Computers, he co-designed the BBC Micro and led the development of the first ARM chips. He is currently the ICL Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Manchester, focusing on neural networks and brain-inspired computing, including the SpiNNaker project.

The day will include:
• Full access to The Cave and Arcade Archive to explore and enjoy
• A special talk from professor Stephen Furber CBE
• A buffet lunch
• An invitation to join us for dinner in Stroud after the event

Snacks, sweets and soft drinks are also available. (Please note, The Cave operates on a cashless basis; only card payments are accepted.)

We look forward to welcoming you to The Cave and Arcade Archive, a retro technology haven in the heart of The Cotswolds.
