Sunday, 5th July 2026, All day session (11:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
We are delighted to host Hermann Hauser for a very special guest day at the Retro Collective. Hermann will give a talk about his varied career spanning almost 50 years.
Hermann Hauser’s influence on the computer industry lies not only in the companies he helped create, but in his ability to recognise brilliant technical ideas and turn them into world-changing businesses. As co-founder of Acorn Computers, he helped build the environment in which the BBC Micro could be developed at extraordinary speed, bringing together engineers such as Sophie Wilson and Steve Furber and giving them the backing to create a machine that transformed computer education in Britain.
His role was equally important in the story of ARM: Hauser saw the potential in Acorn’s processor work and helped guide it from an internal engineering solution into a technology that would eventually power billions of devices around the world. Beyond Acorn, he became one of the key figures behind Cambridge’s growth as a technology centre, founding and backing companies, investing in new ideas, and helping turn the “Silicon Fen” into one of the most important computing clusters in Europe.
The day will include:
• Full access to The Cave and Arcade Archive to explore and enjoy
• A special talk from Hermann Hauser
• A buffet lunch*
• An invitation to join us for dinner in Stroud after the event
Snacks, sweets and soft drinks are also available. (Please note, The Cave operates on a cashless basis; only card payments are accepted.)
We look forward to welcoming you to The Cave and Arcade Archive, a retro technology haven in the heart of The Cotswolds.
